Our story

At Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) we provide truly affordable housing, with more than 2,500 homes. We’re small, and rooted in North and East London since 1933. We’re also building more homes in Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest.

Our vision

Our vision is to co-create homes and communities where everyone can flourish. We believe everyone is entitled to a quality, affordable and safe home, and everything we do is built on our four core organisational values:

  • Pride in Team ISHA
  • Respect for everyone
  • Trusted to make the difference
  • Passionate commitment to customers

Working together

Working with others, you can achieve more. We collaborate with our local authorities, Homes England, and other local housing associations, including black and minority ethnic (BAME), special needs housing associations and co-operatives. Investment in development is provided by the Greater London Authority.

We are proud to lead the North River Alliance (NRA), which is a consortium of north and east London community-based housing associations.

Regulator of Social Housing

We're regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).

The regulator's purpose is to promote a viable, efficient and well-governed social housing sector able to deliver homes that meet a range of needs through its regulatory standards for landlords. These standards provide robust economic regulation focusing on governance, financial viability and value for money that maintains lender confidence and protects the taxpayer. The regulator also sets consumer standards and may take action if these standards are breached and there is a significant risk of serious detriment to tenants or potential tenants.
