Equality, diversity and inclusion strategy

Our equality, diversity and inclusion strategy (PDF, 1mb) sets out our intentions and actions towards being a diverse and inclusive organisation. We work within this framework and current legislation and codes of practice to achieve equality of access and provision within our services.

  • We expect all ISHA’s staff, residents and stakeholders to be treated equitably and respectfully in their interactions with us.
  • We will be inclusive and reflect the rich and diverse communities we exist to serve.
  • We will work to earn the trust and confidence of staff, residents and stakeholders that they can expect - from us and our contractors - respect, fairness, and equitable treatment.

ISHA’s equality, diversity and inclusion strategy (PDF, 1mb) was approved by the Board in March 2023 and is due for review in December 2024.

June 2024 update

Our June 2024 ED&I strategy progress update (PDF, 290kb) captures our progress against the strategy and what we prioritise for 2024/25.

  • We are very clear that the strategy starts from a place of inspiration, not regulation, and that we are driven by the conviction that equality, diversity, and inclusion principles should be central to an organisation founded on seeking to redress some of the world’s ills.
  • Significant progress has been made in some areas of our strategy, with prioritisation and refocusing on others for 2024/25 after experiencing some delays.

The purpose of our strategy

In carrying out our equality, diversity, and inclusion strategy (PDF, 1mb), ISHA aims to assist disadvantaged groups in gaining access to our services. We work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies to achieve this.

Job applications

As an employer, ISHA encourages job applicants from all sections of the community and seeks to maintain a workforce that reflects the composition of the communities and areas we work in.
