How to apply for housing with ISHA
You can become an ISHA customer by applying for housing through your local authority. We do not operate a waiting list for our homes, so if you want to become an ISHA customer, you will need to contact one of the local authorities and register with them:
London Borough of Hackney
London Borough of Islington
London Borough of Waltham Forest
London Borough of Camden
London Borough of Tower Hamlets
London Borough of Haringey
If you require information on supported housing, you can visit our supported housing section.

Mutual exchange
You can exchange or swap your home with another ISHA tenant or a tenant from another housing association or council anywhere in the country, provided both landlords give permission. This is called a mutual exchange.
Home Swapper
You can organise this a mutual exchange yourself by advertising in newspapers and shop windows or by registering with HomeSwapper.
HomeSwapper is for social tenants who want a house swap. If you live in a council property or housing association property you can swap. For more information, check out the Homeswapper website or email info@homeswapper.co.uk.
To eligible for mutual exchange you must meet these criteria:
- Not have any rent arrears.
- Not benefit from the exchange by more than one bedroom.
- Accept the condition of the property as you find it (this also applies to the person you're exchanging with).

Transfers
You can find more information about transfers in our transfer policy (PDF, 206kb)
If you are interested in doing a transfer, we strongly suggest you apply to your local authority's waiting list. You can find links to the local authorities we work with at the top of this page.

Shared ownership opportunities
You can become an ISHA customer by purchasing one of our shared ownership (part buy, part rent) properties. You can do this by registering on the Buy with ISHA website or by signing up to Housing Options
.
For more information about shared ownership, call ISHA on 0300 131 7300 or email homeOwnership@isha.co.uk.

Housing Moves
Housing Moves is the Mayor of London's scheme that enables victims/survivors of domestic abuse and former rough sleepers to move to a home within London.
Housing Moves is a choice-based lettings scheme where applicants can 'bid' for properties they are interested in.
The Housing Moves scheme closed to new applications for social housing tenants who are not victims/survivors of domestic abuse in March 2022.
If you have any questions that are not answered in this section, get in touch on 0300 131 7300 or by emailing TenancyTeam@isha.co.uk.
