ISHA is now registered as a Disability Confident Committed Employer.
What does that mean?
The Disability Confident scheme is a voluntary government initiative. It helps employers recruit and retain great people, and helps;
- challenge attitudes and increase understanding of disability
- draw from the widest possible pool of talent
- secure high-quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard-working
- improve employee morale and commitment by demonstrating fair treatment
It also helps people identify us as employers who are committed to inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
Why did we join the scheme?
We aspire to attract and retain great people. Through our participation in the Disability Confident Scheme, we want to showcase our dedication to assisting individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions in the workplace, whether they are prospective employees or current staff.
Ruth Davison, Chief Executive said, "We joined the scheme because attracting people with talent and disabilities to our business - as employees or Board members - is one of the actions targeted in our equality, diversity and inclusion strategy (PDF, 1mb). We believe that everyone, irrespective of disabilities, deserves the chance to pursue a role they are passionate about within an organisation where they receive support and appreciation."
